The star has donated the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the trust for venues, which operates to save the Britain's small music venues.

He was presented with the award on 16 October as his new release People Watching was chosen as the top album of the last 12 months.

The musician has decided to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part grassroots venues had in his early career.

"I personally wouldn't be doing this success if it wasn't for all the gigs I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," said Sam Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – roughly 16% of the entire UK sector.

Recently, major artists like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a small levy to their admission fees, which benefits local stages.

Sam Fender also joined in, generating over £100k on his live tour to support thirty-eight grassroots venues across the UK.

The donation assisted venues that were dealing with imminent closure due to issues stemming from water damage, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, court cases and sound issues.

Some locations obtained monetary aid in upgrading facilities and technical equipment that directly benefitted performers and fans.

"The notion that funds from concerts in big venues helps the smaller venues, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just logical," the star has said.
